Again, WhatsApp Extends Support For Older Android Versions Till 2020

It's now obvious that all the threats from WhatsApp to stop working on some devices including older versions of Android phones are empty threats. Just yesterday, we told you that WhatsApp's support for BlackBerry platform has been extended till the end of this 2017. Now, it has come to light that the Facebook-owned company's website has been updated to reflect that the app will continue supporting older Android versions till 2020.

Remember, back in February 2016, WhatsApp issued serious warning that they'll stop supporting Android v2.1 and Android 2.2 (and some other, non-Android platforms) by the end of 2016. But a quick look at the same webpage now reveals users will be able to use the service on "Android versions 2.3.7 and older" till February 1, 2020.

Although this might be a relief to affected users but don't get too excited yet because some new features on whatsapp might work on your phone because of compatibility issues. Be that as it may, it's still advisable to plan on getting a new smartphone with higher OS version and features in order to follow up with all the new features Android brings along.
