Android Has Overtaken Windows As World’s Most Popular OS For

Android OS has overtaken Microsoft's Windows as world's most popular OS for internet web browsing according to a new report from StatCounter. This is actually the first time Android is surpassing Windows in this aspect as before now, people tend to access the Internet most times with a PC especially in advanced countries.

StatCounter is a free online tool that lets administrators keep track of their web traffic just like Google Analytics. Below is their statement on this recent statistics.

The report is based on a sample size of over 15 billion page views per month and the mention “Internet usage” is strictly the viewing of website pages. This report does not include app or data usage as part of the results.

The chart above reveals overall internet usage market share over the past five years.
From the chat, it's obvious that windows popularity is declining while Android is gaining more momentum and dominion when it comes to web browsing.

Also, a close look at the world map indicates that countries where Android is primarily used for performing virtually every web-base tasks are developing countries.

However, in North America, laptop/desktop internet usage is still above the overall mobile usage of internet, though not by much more.

Apart from the above stats, Android still remains the most popular OS in the world and this it achieved with a wide margin.
