Press release:
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has said the Senate didn’t endorse data tariff hike as reported by Daily Trust.
Daily Trust reported on Wednesday that the Senate Committee on Communications, which was on an oversight visit to NCC headquarters, endorsed the data price increase.
NCC in a rejoinder signed by its Director of Public Affairs Tony Ojobo yesterday said Senator Solomon Olamilekan, who led a Senate committee on a visit to the commission Tuesday only commended NCC for suspending the proposed data price floor.
He wrote: “The Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Senator Solomon Olamilekan who led the team did not say or give any endorsement of the so called data tariff hike.
“He simply commended the activities of the Commission for responding to the pains of Nigerian consumers, by suspending the proposed tariff hike.”
Senator Olamilekan also denied giving the endorsement in a statement by his media aide, Kayode Odunaro.
