The Galaxy Note 7 is the latest flagship device from Samsung packing a whole lot of amazing specs and therefore expensive to purchase.
Imagine buying the device with your hard earned money and it get 'blown' overnight just like that - what would you do?
Definitely, this has been a serious issue and sad drama for some users of the new Galaxy Note 7. It is reported that over 40 cases has been recorded globally within the short period the phone was launched.
SO WHAT IS SAMSUNG DOING ABOUT THIS?
To compensate her customers and protect their image, Samsung is recalling the device, and offering users new ones (or a different phone till it is replaced).
BUT WHY IS GALAXY NOTE 7 BLOWING UP?
This is the question making rounds globally at the moment and the company has released an official statement about it. Samsung says:
“Based on our investigation, we learned that there was an issue with the battery cell. An overheating of the battery cell occurred when the anode-to-cathode came into contact which is a very rare manufacturing process error. We are working with multiple suppliers to ensure that a rigorous inspection process is conducted to ensure the quality of our replacement units and we do not anticipate any further battery issues.”
It is worthy to note that the Lithium material used in producing most phone batteries is highly reactive, and susceptible to cause overheating. In common physics knowledge, an overheated or short-circuited cell (battery) usually results to a chain reaction of other cells breaking.
IT IS ALSO A BLOW TO SAMSUNG AS A COMPANY
Reports reveals that the recalling process could cost Samsung whooping US$1 billion. God help Samsung from this unforseen 'rare manufacturing process error'
A billion dollars, that's a huge loss
