BlackBerry, First To Fix QuadRooter Security Issues On Android Device

Early this month a very serious security issue called QuadRooter which attacks primarily all android devices running Quad Core Processors was discovered which now posses threat and fear on users worldwide.

As a matter of fact, BlackBerry was the main focus of criticism after they claimed the new BlackBerry DTEK50 was the most secured android phone in the market.

So BlackBerry just responded by being the first major OEM to patch all of the QuadRooter issues across their device portfolio. Security updates fixing the issues have been released to both the Priv and the DTEK50 , BlackBerry’s current Android OS phones.

Below is BlackBerry statement on the development about QuadRooter Vulnerabilities issues Fixed

"Three of the four vulnerabilities have already been fixed on PRIV devices with the August Marshmallow patch and on all DTEK50 devices. In addition, the secure boot chain present in all BlackBerry devices naturally mitigates the remaining issue. We’re not aware of any exploits for this vulnerability in the wild, and we don’t think any of our customers are currently at risk from this issue. This is a great example of how our Android platform hardening proactively protects against issues that haven’t even been discovered yet…"

BlackBerry resorted to joining the winning team (android OS) having failed to win the battle of supremacy between Android OS and BlackBerry OS.

  1. It doesn't affect quad-core devices, it affects smartphones with Qualcomm chipsets
