Senate Extends Jamb Validity Period To 3 Years: Reduces Registration Fee.

I think this is a good move by the Nigerian Senate as they finally gave ear to the massive requests of students to extend the validity period of JAMB result which normally expires after one year of sitting for the exam. Though there are still missed feelings across different categories of citizens about the extension but they one that got 100% total acceptance is the reduction in the registration fee which was before now around N5,650

According to dailytrust The fee has been reduced to N2, 500 from N5,650 that was paid this year by JAMB candidates.

This resolution was abducted following the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund on the inquiry into the new admission policy of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

During the proceedings, the Senators also suggested for the extension of the time JAMB UTME results expires to three academic year.

They also decided to amend the Act establishing JAMB to point at the extension of the validity time which is at the moment 12 months (1 year)

So with this amendments, students won't be in a hurry to choose another course because they don't want to retake JAMB exam again. This happened to my colleague some years back. He wanted to study electrical and electronics engineering in my school then but his JAMB score wasn't enough so he was given another option which is agric engineering an he sharply accepted it because of the hustle and risk of taking another JAMB UTME exam.
