Allo Messenger was announced in May and people has been anxiously waiting for the official release of the app since then. The good news is that the app is available for download now both on android and iPhone/iPad devices.

Some months ago, google unveiled its its video calling app known as Duo which offers video calling features to users even with a slow 2g network.

Both Duo and Allo apps requires your phone number for registration instead of the traditional gmail method used in other google supported services.

However, the app lacks both audio and video calling features. Maybe it will be added in subsequent updates. I loved the app after downloading and testing it. It will really be a direct competitor to Facebook messenger.
