Telecom giants MTN and Etisalat has launched Do-Not-Disturb (DND) codes to opt out of all the Unsolicited SMS messages that are sent in your phone without your consent.
Recall, in the month of May 2016, Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) issued an order to all telecommunication industries in the country to stop sending useless SMS and adverts to their customers lines without their consent or face being fined heavily for it. Now, i think MTN don't want to face the situation they met at the very end of last year so they are now the one to Kickstart the process in compliance with NCC direction.
We all know how painful and disturbing it is when your phone keep on beeping because of messages that doesn't interest you. We have even gone as far as using some apps to block certain numbers known for sending those Unsolicited messages but after everything, the network providers would still device a way to intrude into our lines and bombard us with adverts.
Thanks to MTN for complying

ReplyDeleteThanks for this inspiring post. Waiting patiently for AIRTEL to follow same.
ReplyDeleteNice information. At least, this can help to stop unwanted messages, since almost all the networks in Nigeria are now bombarding customers with non-requested services via text messages. Thanks wizytechs.
